Journal Dec 11

Today started off with a welcomed visit from the zookeepers at the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Eight keepers came to the ranch ready to work. They spent the morning shoveling ash, stripping melted siding and nails from the burned corner of the new barn, and helped to bed down pens of pigs.
It is such a delight to work with the young people from the zoo. They are so enthusiastic and full of life, and full of love for animals. It was a wonderful time for me, as I felt inspired and recharged just from being around them. Thank you Jay, Scott, Hollie, Kim, Robin, Amanda, Amber & Melanie!

The Great Plains Zoo recently partnered with Sanford Children's hospital to create ZooTV. Fourteen cameras will be placed throughout the zoo, focused on various animals. Patients at the children's hospital and visitors in waiting rooms will be able to log onto the zoo web page and watch the animals. What a cool concept and what a way to heal children! Awesome! Visit the Great Plains zoo at www.gpzoo.org or Sanford Children's Hospital at www.sanfordhealth.org.

The Great Plains zoo has many wonderful animals on display and an interactive children's zoo that includes Jacob Sheep and a Belted Galloway Heifer that came from Maveric. Check them out if you are in the area.
